Rebuilding a portion of stone retaining wall (Titirangi) We are looking for 2-3 tradies to rebuild a 3.5m portion of our existing stone retaining wall that has recently become unstable. Using the existing stones we would like you to take the stones down and rebuild it with existing stones as follows (like the images shown): 1. Leaning the retaining wall into the slope (so it’s not perfectly vertical) 2. Large stones at the bottom 3. One over two, two over one (just like bricklaying), trying for roughly even courses, by avoiding peaks and filling in valleys with smaller stones (Fig. B) 4. Rocks on the face of the wall slanting down toward inside of the wall (so they don’t fall out) (Fig. A) 5. Chinking small stones into any gaps 6. Adding quick drying concrete/mortar to any remaining gaps. We want this job done asap, while the weather is still warm and dry. You will need to be strong as some of the rocks are heavy, and careful when moving the stones around (as we don’t want the pavers beneath the retaining wall to be damaged during the process). Previous experience doing similar work would be an advantage. Please send us your quotes, estimate of hours, and any previous similar experience, and let us know if any questions. Thanks 😊
