We have a small retaining wall (timber post and lagging type, retained height 1.0m) and adjacent fence that is on a lean. One timber post for the wall has rotted and broken off at ground level and another is on its way, two other adjacent posts on a lean also. The work will be to reinstate the existing wall, with vertical timber posts (or laid back slightly). Identify and remove rotten timber posts and replace with H5 treated round timber posts (i.e. maintain aesthetic of the existing walls). I think 2 of the 4 posts on a lean are in need of replacing (including the broken one) but this should be checked by the builder to confirm the other 2 are OK to be reinstated without replacement. The reinstated or replaced timber posts should be secured in the ground with sufficient embedment and with concrete to prevent future outward rotation of the wall. Reinstate the timber lagging and retained soil behind the retaining posts and make good. Tidy/ remove surplus spoil and damaged timber posts as required. Timeframe: We would like this work completed before the winter rains arrive - i.e. March - April.
