retaining wall / deck / landscape rejuvenation

The landscape around the back of our house needs some work to make it more usable. We live on a sloping section with the backyard being higher than the front. We would like to replace / reconfigure the existing retaining wall to create more room. It will require some excavation. There is already an existing flat area with pavers on it. We'd also like a get a deck built (and some sort of cover). Some new paved areas adjacent to the deck etc. We have some ideas on what we want but would want some input on what is possible / cost effective
