Repave an outdoor entertainment area

Looking to repave (but very happy to be given ideas) an already paved area by our garage. Tree roots have pushed the existing bricks up and the bricks are generally looking old and tired. Would like to keep the bricks for other things. In essence - looking for ideas and advice and what to use that would be future proof for inevitable further tree root invasions etc.
