lawn thatch and scarifying

my lawn is full of thatch that I have been trying to de-thatch myself with the rake for the job. I thin it is too big a job(though not a big lawn) I need some advice as to what to do, and maybe a quote for sorting it. Definitely not willing to pay the below for this job!
