Garden tidy up and ideas for the future!

Need some maintenance work done on our property. Some hedge bushes growing overtop the neighbours fence, these are about 2.5 metres tall. The existing bushes, plants and small trees need either removing, tying up or at least pruning! Also need some suggestions and ideas of what else we could do as unsure if what was previously planted when we moved in is suitable to continue with! Have attached a few photos, overall would say its medium sized sort of garden project based on Auckland size garden areas!
