Colour/interior design/lighting guidance for kitchen/dining renovation

We have enlisted the services of a kitchen joinery firm in ChCh to replace our existing kitchen, the plans of which we have accepted. We're struggling with the finer detail of colour scheme/new splashback/lighting to blend with the existing style, which is approx 18 years young and with original colours...which overall, we're happy with, just a little dated! We have chosen a quartz calacatta gold benchtop, replacing a darker granite, but need to ensure the cabinetry colour (decided on shaker style along with oak style veneer on upper cupboards), splashback (wish to have tiles but need help here) and surrounding walls/rooms blend. We're also updating the laundry at the same time. Removal of existing kitchen is planned early/mid October so we're needing to make a decision as soon as possible. Assistance would be much appreciated as tired of looking at magazines and online images!!
