Heating for a 1950s home

We are looking at adding heating into our home for the winter months. The house is --- extension has no roof space. We have electricity only at the house. We were thinking a ducted heat pump system as the house isn't open plan and have multiple areas to heat. Unsure how to heat it efficiently so any suggestions of cost effective and efficient heating we can install would be really helpful.
