New gate or fix made to current gate

The latch on the front pedestrian gate keeps coming lose/breaking. I believe this is because the wood maybe rotting and it gets battered by the wind. We have tried changing latches ourselves but nothing seems to hold for long. So I need someone to assess what is needed, whether it be a fix of the current gate, new latch or new gate. I would like this done as soon as possible as we have dogs and need a gate that shuts reliably.
