All rounder handyman for various projects

Job description

General Handyman Tasks
Waitakere

Published: 13 November 2010

I own a new property, but surprisingly still keep finding things I want to get done. I'd prefer to be able to get all these jobs done by the same person - but will consider tradespeople that are able to do the majority but maybe not all. Things to be done: - Fixing nail pops in the gib (approx 10 in different areas of the house) - Swapping blinds over (moving the larger one to the left of the ranchslider, and moving the other to the right) - Installing shelves into a hallway cupboard - Installing of foldaway washing line onto exterior of house (brick) - Installation of cat door into ranchslider - Installation of privacy window film to ranchslider, kitchen window and bedroom window At this stage I havent purchased the cat door, shelving, washing line or privacy film but have looked into the costs for these already. If you think you can provide them cheaper then im happy for you to cost these as part of the quote. Im unavailable during weekdays, so anyone interested in this project will only be able to visit on weekends to assess the requirements. Im happy to provide measurements and/or photos if thats easier to obtain a indication of costs. I'm looking to get these projects completed within the next month or so, as im also getting some landscaping done so would like all projects to be completed by the end of January so based on this id like to get costs through as quickly as possible.

I had Jamie complete a few jobs for me as part of a 'all rounder ' request. These included, installation of a cat door, install of a foldable washing line on exterior brick wall, installing shelves into a hallway cupboard and fixing nail pops in the gib in some areas of the house. I found Jamie a very pleasant person to deal with and communication during the job process was good. On completion of the job there are a few issues which Jamie has not responded to so my review is based on not receiving a response to these at this time. 1) Washing Line - Jamie advised that he thought it was faulty. I got the company to come out and check it and was told there was nothing wrong with it, it just needed to be moved up and down correctly. There is an issue with the height this has been installed as I cant stand under it without hitting my head, the company also said it was too low. Jamie is yet to advise if there was a reason for installing it so low on the wall. 2) Shelving in cupboard. There are 5 shelves in total, and all but the last has been installed fine. I'm not sure why but the bottom shelf isnt level and not attached like the others. Again, waiting for Jamie to advise if there is a reason to this. 3) Nail pops in gib. Jamie focused on the stairwell which was the worst area for these. Unfortunately the work that he has done has made the stairwell worse than it was originally and ill be looking to get someone else to come in and fix this. Based on 3 of 4 jobs I requested Jamie to complete being listed above as having issues, as much as I like Jamie personally, id be reluctant to use his services again as the cost seemed too high based on the final result.
