Cantilever umbrella handle repair

I turned the handle too many times and I think the cog in the handle has snapped. I have cut the pulley rope, removed the handle but am unable to pry the handle open to repair. I think a new handle and re thread of the pulley rope is required. Umbrella still in great condition.
