Cat door installation + screen door alteration

I have a door that has a glass panel that the cat door can be installed in. However, there is a screen door with diamond patterned wire frame in front of the glass door. Would it be possible to cut a section of it out so that the cat door is unobstructed? I would like to have the job completed this week if possible. Thank you Kirsty
