Cat door and brick sealing

We have several loose bricks that need repointing/setting. We also need a cat door installed but at this stage, are looking at the bottom of the front door - which appears to be hollow (sounds it) with aluminum both sides - we think! Actually need some advice if we can put a door there. Alternative is thru the brick exterior into an external facing wall or getting a whole new double glazed panel made. Just want to know if you might be interested and what you think is possible. We have NOT purchased a door yet until we know what we're doing. Likely a small dog door - as cat is a 13.5 kilo maine coon. Sandra Henderson ---
