Dog Door install

Hi, we have an existing cat door in our back door / ranch slider and need to upgrade this to a bigger dog door. Can this be done in the existing window or does it need to be replaced? We have the new dog door already. Hoping we can just get a larger hole cut in existing glass. TIA
