Gas hob - knobs to be loosened

2 out of 4 of the knobs on the stove top have fully seized up (they haven't been in use for a year, so am assuming lack of use is the reason). I have used a bit of CRC but they are not budging - didn't want to force them in case I couldn't turn them off again...
