Big clean up/clear out of garden to prepare for sale

Job description

Gardening
Wellington

We are selling our house and our garden is in an absolute state! We need someone to come around and: - clear out our back yard - clear out down the side of the house - mow the back lawn - weed - trim trees that are touching the house and remove all waste from our property (so you would have your own truck or trailer). Quote needs to include removal and tip fees. There is no skilled work involved - we are not wanting landscaping. Just tidying up. Many of the weeds (down the side of the house etc) are growing across the ground, not out of it - so to speak - so will be easy to remove. Because of this, we do not need professional, qualified gardeners. We are wanting our place on the market as soon as possible, so need someone to come asap. Our choice of tradesperson will be influenced by who can come soonest.

We secured Chris' help to prepare our house for sale and I cannot remember making a worse decision. Chris' work was absolutely disgraceful (I can provide pictures of the damage he did to various parts of our property), and his methods were unprofessional and dangerous. One of the people he had working for him was a hard worker and did good work. That's the only positive thing I can think of to say. When it became obvious that Chris was a cowboy who was going to do more and more damage with his "rip, sh*t and bust" methods, we asked him to stop and told him we no longer required him. At that point we took stock of what had been done and realised we would need to hire someone else - not only to finish the multiple jobs that he'd left half done, or not started, but also to fix almost every job that he had done (either done incorrectly, or to cover or mend damage he'd done in the process of doing the work). Given this, we came up with a fair payment figure and communicated this to him. This is when the threats started. In the end, we paid him off - selling a house and moving is a stressful time and dealing with Chris and his threats was making it exponentially worse. We have young children and I am a stay at home mother, and I felt unsafe - so we gave in. I cannot state strongly enough that this is NOT a person you want in your house, on your property, or touching anything that belongs to you. He is unprofessional, incompetent and unstable. It cost us in the region of $700 to fix the damage he did, and another $1000 to finish or re-do work he had done. You have been warned. :-(
