Weed control - ivy

Hi I have a tree at the back of my property (neighbour's side) that's covered in ivy and it's now coming over the fence and covering the carport. I think it will start threatening the structure of the carport soon so I need to get it removed and somehow control the ivy coming on to my property. Please see photos.
