Weed removal,weed mat placement and possibly planting basic fruit trees etc

Looking to sell my home next year and the gardens have always been horrific for weeds, there's a big portion out the back used to be treeline so now just crazy amount of weeds, wanting whatever is cheap easy solution whether that's grass seed or weedmat and planting fruit trees or whatever is recommended to fix it
