Basic small garden and lawn maintenance

We have a house in Waverley Dunedin that has just gone on the market. As we no longer live there we would like the gardens and small lawn area to be kept tidy and weed free. Initially it needs a decent prune of the side hedge, a few shade loving annuals planted in a shaded bare garden alongside a back shed, and a general tidy up of the other gardens - they are fairly tidy at the moment though. We would like the initial tidy up ASAP (preferably within a week of this post). After that we just want the very small area of lawn back and front mowed fortnightly, and any general weeding done at the same time.
