Spray-free gardening and weeding

Looking for my backyard to be tidied up after it being neglected for a few months. There is a lot of convolvulus and thrip throughout the garden. Just wanting spray-free weeding, removal of convolvulus and thrip treatment on the laurel (happy for spray to be used for this). See photos of how it used to look vs now - hoping to get it back to what it used to look like to easily maintain.
