Looking at cost effective option/s to reface/repair existing 1990s double garage spring tilt door with existing cedar diagonal styled panels. Garage door frame is fine. I think cedar panels are glued on, bottom is rotten in some areas. Ive repaired so many times but continues to rot out! Ideas and options are welcome. I had in mind either removing existing and/or replacing with large wood sheet panels (plywood) too heavy? or or steel? Or just plain horizontal wood slat panels...or bottom quarter covered and sealed somehow whilst retaining existing style above that's still ok... . Something that will last the lifetime of the garage door until i can afford a new one entirely! For now it is functional and frame still sturdy and intact. Door measures 4.9m long x 2.9m high. I haven't enquired if cedar panels are still available for replacement. I am able to paint door myself.
