Cot sliding side alignment/spring tension

Flat pack cot has a sliding side that can be lowered/raised as needed. After being taken apart and rebuilt several times the side now sticks, particularly when trying to lower. Seems to be more the spring on one side rather than sticking due to friction but haven’t been able to get it running any smoother.
