I am in the process of buying a property. My offer has been accepted as of --- . The building has stucco over concrete walls and has a concrete foundation. My builder's report has found repaired cracks in interior walls and believes the concrete foundation may be split, possibly due to the 1987 Edgecumbe earthquake. I would like to know if the foundation is in fact damaged and if so, is it likely to need repairing or will it be safe to live in. I would ideally like to get this done this coming week (Jan 20 - 24) because I am under a deadline to carry out my due diligence on the property before the sale is finalised. Basically I just want to know that the house isn't going to fall down after I buy it.
