Floor sanding & polish / varnish

We're installing a new kitchen mid June (proposed dates 17th and 18th June). The tiler, plumber and builder will come from 19th to finish it off. We have wooden floor from the 1960s and would like to keep that. But with the slight configuration in our new kitchen plans, it means one patch of the wooden floor will look different to the current floor because it has been covered by old kitchen cupboards. We would like the kitchen floor to look the same all over, so I guess it needs sanding, polish and varnish? When should this happen - after kitchen is installed? Or? Thanks Sara
