Hi there After the Kaikoura earthquake last year, the floor in our lounge started squeaking and it feels like one of the floorboards has broken or sunk. I lodged a claim with EQC through our insurer, IAG. The damage has still not been assessed (6 months later) but our house is now in the process of being sold and is under offer. I have been told by the company that the new owners cannot take on the policy until the damage has been assessed and quoted. If the damage is minor (which it is) I can get a quote from a registered builder and have the builder complete a form for the insurance company ‘Builder Assessment Form’ and then the insurance company will assess the quote and if approved, may pay the quote and have the claim settled without the need for their Los Adjusters assess the house. I am looking for a registered builder to do an urgent quote on the damage – are you able to do this for me and if so, how soon could it be done? My address is 1212 Taita Drive, Taita, Lower Hutt. Thanks, Lizzie ---
