Metal Fencing & Gates
Rodney

Re- instal recently badly fitted gate on a metal post fence. We are in Snells Beach. The recently badly fitted gate on a metal post needs to be re-done. Rough idea of the steps to be done – Not necessarily in this precise sequence – Examine the current incorrect installation. Loosen and remove 3 fittings of the horizontals of the fence to the recently installed metal post. This post is in the wrong place. Detach gate from post. Review the measurements. Inspect another gate – SEE that there is 20mm clearance each side between the gate and gate posts. The fundamental error in the existing fitting has been to allow insufficient clearance, in addition failing to attach the bottom hinge properly. Agree measurements . Cut approx. 40 mm off each of the 3 horizontals. Remove the post. A new post may be required. Instal the gate post in the correct agreed position truly vertical. Plenty stones are available to secure the post before adding concrete. Let concrete set. Hang the gate on the New post using new hinges as necessary. Remove the magnetic catch from the other end post, and reinstall in the correct position. Part required: 1 x 1900mm H x 50mm Square metal post 2 x hinges At least 4 Suitable screws to fix hinges securely I can obtain the parts or if preferred the contractor can supply . Look forward to hearing from you.
