Fence height extension

I wish to extend the height of an existing fence for privacy after trees were removed by neighbour. See photo. My initial thoughts are for an 'oriental' style long run trellis/batten effect with slight gap between each, coming off the post at the very left edge of the photo, running at the same height along the fence, then stepping down around where the cabbage tree is on the right, as the existing fence height from thereon will not be changed.
