Soundproofing an existing short wooden fence.

Job description

General Fencing
Auckland

I have a 5m section of wooden fence between me and my neighbour (townhouses). It's wooden and in adequate condition, and the "ugly side" (with the railings) is on my side. I want the fence retained but something (I don't know what!) added to my side to muffle noise as much as possible (specifically: to stop our dogs hearing each other then setting up a barking contest.) The job is to recommend a material, then quote for materials and installation. I looked at something called 'acoustifence', not sure whether that's a good idea or not but it's the sort of thing I imagine might help. Or something more solid? I don't know what is best, and fully appreciate that part of what I'm paying for with this job is your expert advice. The fence is about 1.4m high, and the top rail is 1.2m off the ground. Cosmetics are basically NOT important - the fence basically isn't visible to anyone - but of course it needs to be weatherproof (at least 5 year lifespan). Paintability would be nice, but is not that important. I hope this isn't a huge job, but I'll very much prioritize expertise with this type of problem rather than low cost.
