Make a flap on a gate

Looking to see whether it’s feasible to make a flap on this gate. As per the photo this is a red stag gate, I have marked off where I want to make a hinge flap so the gate can be pushed from either side to open the flap and allow our automatic mower to pass through the gate. Would be handy to have a latch that can lock in place so we can lock it from flapping if we wanted to.
