House to diesel generator switch

Job description

General Electrical
Waimakariri

I have a rural property and I want my house to be switched to work from a generator if the power goes off. I think a diesel generator would be preferable as the fuel is just going to be sitting around doing nothing for ages. I just want a quote at this stage. I have had a look at some generators (5-8 ish kW) and it seems possible. It won't need to be a digital generator as I do understand the electricity produced is not flat so the TV and laptop thing I understand, so just lights and water pump etc etc. Something like this. Handles and wheels are necessary as need to move it. Would prefer if you had a preferred supplier. --- or something like this : --- / --- This seems to automatically turn off and on as required. I would prefer if you have already done this kind of job before. The house has not got a physical 3 phase connection that I could hook up something which uses 3 phase. But I think when they built it the house they brought 3 phase to the house, and then spread the loading across the phases. So myabe the kitchen is on one phase, and the lights are on another. I am not 100% sure about this though. Electricity usage : - water pump (usual water pump from tank) - 2 x fridge - 1 x freezer - down lights - gas fire (needs electricity to turn on)

Dave from Woodhouse Electrical did an awesome job to convert my electrical wiring so that I could flick a switch and then connect a diesel generator and run the house electrics off the generator when the power turns off. Great communication and turned up on time to do a professional job.
