Rewire/repair radio/speaker system

An old but useful radio and recording playing system that is installed in a closet and plays to speakers in an adjacent room has developed an on/off switch failure. if the switch is not readily repaired a re-wiring and transfer of equipment within the house will be required. Repair would be preferred, but other solutions welcomed. I will provide a photograph if required, but this will probably not be more informative than the description above.
