Switch board upgrade

I am wanting to upgrade our switch board. The house was built in 1969 and I don't know if it has been updated since (we have only been here a few months), there are a couple of breakers but mainly ceramic fuses, some that appear to have gotten too hot at some stage (melted plastic on the fuse holder) - we are also renovating bedrooms at the moment and would like a couple of power points adding and a couple throughout the house that appear to be disconnected fixed.
