Looking to get a timer installed to turn on and off our electric hot water cylinder so we can use cheaper night rate electricity to heat it. New build house (2023). Appears to be plenty of room in the switchboard for a timer. Also easy access to cylinder and wiring if an alternative solution is proposed or considered better. We would prefer the timer have a battery backup so it won't lose its time if there is a power outage. I work from home all week. Any time, any day suits. The cylinder is plenty large enough for us to go all day without heating it, we have been doing this manually for a few weeks now and have not had cold water.
