Electrical work

Job description

General Electrical
Christchurch

I have a late 1940s weatherboard, 3 bed single storey house needing some electrical repairs and upgrades. The following is what I'm prioritising from a recent inspection: The switchboard is a rewireable fuse protected type. The condition is satisfactory. Sufficient space is provided for present needs only. If significant additions are contemplated a new switchboard may be required with circuit breaker type. The rubber insulated circuits are in serviceable condition but showing signs of perishing. It is recommended that these circuits be replaced or sleeved at the termination points behind the fuseboard and at the fittings. Some copper chloride seepage (green slime) was seen at the fuseboard and at a plug in the main bedroom. This should be cleaned off and monitored. It appears to be only happening in once circuit. If it continues, the circuit may need to be replaced. Some loose electrical circuits in the roof space should be fully cut off. These appear to be due to past building alterations. They are next to the skylight and range hood ducting. All wiring within 2 metres of the manhole needs to be clipped and protected. There is a joint in the wiring in the roof space for the plug socket by the manhole. This joint requires to be redone as per electrical regulations. Down lights are installed in the living room and kitchen. There is primary insulation showing at the down lights so the wiring to them will need to be shortened and re-terminated. Keep insulation 50mm away from these lights. (I MIGHT TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY TO INSTALL NEW DOWN LIGHTS BEFORE GETTING EXTRA INSULATION DONE) The water cylinder in the roof space needs to have an isolating switch installed in a position that is accessible to the homeowners. The study, baby room and hall wall lights need to be earthed. The outside security light needs to be repaired/replaced and the switch for it found, or one installed. The bathroom heat/light/fan unit needs repair/replacement. HPM 4 lamp required. Also required: In the living room a new double plug behind newly wall-mounted TV and a new TV aerial socket (original is about 2 metres away) plus any neat trick to hide tv-dvd cable by going through the wall. In the study (same room as switchboard) a new double plug. I'd need any quote itemised so I can prioritise tasks according to budget. Thanks!
