Job description

Electrical Renovations
Auckland

An electrical inspection for certification was done today and there are 3 remedial works that need to be completed and CoC issued by electrician on completion, before next inspection and final certification. This is being done as part of our CoA application for an unconsented bathroom. Remedial work required- 1) An Earth Electrode could not be located around the house. This has to be installed in an accessible location, so the inspector can certify, test and inspect. (We think there is one existing, but it may be in an inaccessible part of the house, so either way, this needs to be moved or installed) 2) The power point in the ensuite bathroom is installed in the Zone 3 of the shower and hence should be protected by an RCD as per “Table 6.1 and clause 6.2.4.2 socket outlet” of AS/NZS 3000. Replace this power point with an RCD power point. 3) The socket outlet and the light switch have not been installed correctly with a 5mm gap from the wall. This gap causes water/moisture to enter the electrical connections and internal building materials causing an unsafe situation. This is evident with dirt/moss present behind the light switch. This needs to be correctly installed flush with the wall and may have to be relocated above the wall finishing. Conclusion: The above remedial work has to be completed by an electrician who should issue a CoC (Certificate of Compliance) for his work. Please PROVIDE A QUOTE for this job and the EARLIEST DAY you can do this works, at the time of your request to make contact, thanks.

The final accepted job was meant to be completed in the day 9am-5pm but ended up dragging over 3 days, 2 days without power. There was a whole issue of supply and time wasting sourcing parts, and it ended up being quite stressful. Switch was changed that was inappropriate and Tony had to return to complete the job. It took over a week before everything was finalised. Through it all he communicated well and response time was good.
