Job description

General Electrical
Auckland

We are purchasing our first home and it's in desperate need of rewiring. We need all the usual rewiring work done: * replace mains and wires with modern plastic coated wiring * replace all outlets, switches, and other fittings with new * replace crusty old fuse board with modern circuit breakers, etc. * anything else required to bring it up to modern safety standards * certificate of compliance needed upon completion We also want a few extras: * 5-7 new power points added and one moved (we could do a few less to save money if we have to) * 2 new phone plugs added and one moved * bathroom extractor fan repaired or replaced (appears to work but very noisy) * (possibly) 2 or 3 new sensors added to existing security/alarm system The house is a 3 bedroom with a separate garage and separate sleepout, both of which have power. There is easy access under the house and also access to attic space above ceilings. Our situation is that we have unconditionally purchased the house but it is our responsibility to get the house rewired before settlement date before we can get insurance and final approval of financing (they say the wiring is unsafe and will not insure until it's done). So we're in deep trouble if we don't have it done in time because we can't get the loan from the bank. As first time buyers in Auckland we're stretching our budget pretty thin as is so looking for a good price but also obvious quality work is important because we need an appropriate sign-off/certificate to please the insurance company and bank. I have drawn a floorplan and can mark on it where the current power points and and where we are proposing new ones if that info would help in quoting. If inspection of the property is required for quoting we will have to arrange it with the real estate agent as the vendors are still living in the house until settlement. The work will have to be done while they are still living there which means you could have the option of working straight through two days while we put them up in a motel, or work on a slower schedule but have to do the work in a way that's not to intrusive so they can continue to live there during work. We would like to have the work completed before May 27th if possible (we are going away on holiday after that), but if that doesn't work out the absolute deadline would be end of June. Electricians please reply with contact info (including email address), references, and let me know what other info you need from us in order to produce a quote.
