door handle/lock replacement to door from garage. ? door integrity

As above. The current lock seems to have a weak spring and sometimes unlocks and sometimes doesn't. Hasn't responded to WD40 or taking off and cleaning. The door would date back to 1977 and is not as sturdy as once was. Would like a few estimates of cost of job, with and without new door.
