Fix hole in bathroom door

Interior hollow (apart from cardboard latticing) bathroom door with dark mahogany look needing repair to look like an exact match to the toilet door next to it, this is very important. There is a fist sized hole affecting one side of the door only, this hole is far from any mechanical parts or edges. The door measures 1980 high x 710 across x 40 thick. Pictures attached. This job can be done any time, any day that suits so long as it is complete by 13 November. Looking at repairing it myself, the options were to purchase a perfect match to its buddy the toilet door, good luck... Or to purchase a new 3mm sheet of mahogony outer and to stain and glue this outer to match up with the rest of the original door and consequently the bathroom door next it.
