Removal of section of interior wall between laundry and kitchen

Small section of wall between kitchen and laundry (not a supporting wall) to be removed/demolished to open up the kitchen to light from the laundry. We are wanting to remove the wooden frame on the laundry door as well. The main section of wall is 230cm x 72 cm, with the part above the laundry door (to be demolished) which is 40cm x 71cm. It is a 1970s unit so the walls are probably plasterboard (?) which have been papered. We'd like to paint the walls afterwards so would like to have a relatively smooth finish to the edges if possible. . . Thanks
