Active job

improve drainage and re-lay pavers

Job description

Concrete Driveways & Paths
Waitakere

I have poor drainage in the concrete driveway and paved area in front of the house which causes some of the water to flow under the house. Also the pavers may need to be lifted, re-layed and sealed because of weeds growing in the grouting sand. The paved area requires laborious manual weeding and weedspay at least twice a year. The area to be done is approx 10 to 15 square metres. See below part of the text from a report by a building inspector a few years ago. "The subfloor soil is reasonably wet in some north westerly areas. There are several under house slit drains installed to collect surface water as the north westerly retaining walls, pavers and north path direct water under the dwelling. Ideally the pavers would be re-laid (Or a pre made channel installed towards the dwelling) and a channel cut into (Or pre made channel installed) into the concrete to direct water away from going under the dwelling. Possibly a PVC coil pipe could be laid in the north soil just to the south side of the north concrete path. Otherwise an additional slit drain could be installed in the subfloor area to catch / divert any additional water. It would be better to direct water away from under the dwelling rather than catching it once it is there."
