Brick laying over existing path

Laying old style chimney style bricks over existing path at the front of my house. I already have some bricks taken from the old chimney but will have to buy some more, if you have access to more then that's great . Will need to use sand as I am wanting to prevent weeds that are making their way up through the existing path . Wouldn't think it would take too much work ... See the attached photos .
