Weatherboard maintenance

There is a patch of weatherboard on the exterior of my house which looks like it is damaged. It is in an awkward place to get to so I can't see what the problem is. I am concerned that it may be rot and so would like someone to take a look and then advise me on what action to take. It is very hard to say how much it will cost to fix as I don't know what is involved in the repair or how long it might take...
