Small carpet repair

We've just had tiles put down in the kitchen, and we need the edges of the carpet tidying up in the two doorways that lead into the kitchin. The carpet will need to be trimmed and tacked in place. We also have a small bit of cat damage in one doorway in aother room of the house, we'd like to know if it can be easily repaired. We do have a roll of spare carpet that can be used for patching.
