Rat damage in ceiling space

A rat has gotten into the ceiling space on the ground floor in our house. I think it’s probably been there all throughout the winter as it has done quite a lot of damage throughout the ceiling space in the house including the dining room ceiling, family room ceiling and hallway ceiling. There are urine stains leaching through the ceiling gib from the urine and rat poo. We’re looking for an assessment, quote and solution to remove the worse of the affected gib and soiled insulation batts. We’ve had an exterminator in to catch the rat but if possible would like to know where in the ceiling the rat got access into the ceiling space so as to prevent this from happening again. I have a painter that I use, so at this stage we’re looking for a builder/insulation installer, someone to redo the gib and a plasterer to redo the ceiling/s. Keen to get this started as soon as possible.
