Install wall moulding

Hi, We are keen to install wall moulding to give our home a more traditional look. By this, I mean installing batten and board or similar panelling to the wall next to our staircase and in the living/dining area. I have attached photos. Because this is a cosmetic reno, fine workmanship would be appreciated. We are getting our interior repainted within the next month prior to curtain installation, so the work will need to happen prior to the painting. Thanks
