Job description

Decking & Pergolas
Hamilton

We need a timber deck to be built for our home, veranda area. Area 5.63m X 3.55m. Above existing concrete slab (which is on soil) whose level has dropped (slants downwards away from house, see pictures). At the slab's highest parts (against 2 walls of the house), there is approx 130 to 180 mm of height between the top surface of the slab, and the desired finished level of the deck (which would be in line with the bottom of the sliding door opening. The veranda area is adjacent the house - 2 edges are against the walls of the house, and 2 edges are adjacent grass lawn. No steps required, but a vertical closer will be required along the 2 edges adjacent the lawn (the deck surface will be up to approx 200mm above the lawn, in places). It is proposed that the existing concrete slab remain in its position, i.e. the deck will be built on top of it, rather than removing at and providing piles for support. Pine or Kwila (preferably provide a quote for each). Build/installation time is particularly important - the deck is needed as soon as possible. The ideal would be that the contractor could start within the next few days (and we're assuming a build/installation time of about a week). Veranda is in back garden, accessible via gate in fence (from road in front of house). No steps between road and garden.
