Small kitchen repair and cabinet

I have removed a cupboard to fit a standard size fridge. The original gap was too small for a 170cm fridge. The cabinet was glued in to place so it's left a bit of a mess. I'd like it tidied up with the gap above the fridge filled with either a new smaller cupboard or just a panel to tidy it up. If just a panel is also like the gap in the ceiling covered. We will be renovating the kitchen in a year or two so this just needs to make it look tidy.
