Polish or resurface + fix chips

The benchtop appears to have discoloured and become almost porous (stains easily). I cleaned one spot with an abrasive and it has left a "clean" area with a different colour - see photo. Can the entire thing be polished and sealed? There's also chip that need fixing around the sink (under-mount sink). Not sure of what is possible.
