Convert console table to be used as bathroom vanity

We are looking to make a statement in our bathroom with a piece of furtniture that we purchased from an importer. The piece of furniture is a console table made of old boat wood (which is extremely heavy) which has random wholes in it. We would be looking at filling the wholes with some sort of a resin and drill holes to be able to fit the countertop basin and tap, plus amend the drawers so that the water arrivals on the wall don't prevent the console from being against the wall. We may also need to polyurethane the console.
