Replace double hung sashes + double glaze + leadlight

Job description

General Building
Wellington

Published: 29 October 2010

HI, we have two separate but related jobs we are looking at getting done on our house. The first would require removing and replacing some old double hung sashes that are have buckled with age. The top sash has been nailed in by accident but seems fairly easy to remove. We would also like the glass in the new units to be double glazed withe one panel of 7mm hush (soundproof) glass, one of 4mm clear normal glass. As a result of the double glazing the sashes would need to be re-weighted. We would like this done without damage to the inside window frame, so would like the weight to be accessed from the the wall that is exposed when you slide the sash up. The other job we are looking at getting done is to replace an old leadlight that has buckled and warped. The sash would also need replacing on this window. It has also been nailed shut, so care would need to be taken to keep the existing glass from falling out and shattering in removal of the frame. We would like this window when replaced to be able to open. We have a quote from a leadlight specialist on fixing the leadlight, however he doesnt remove and install the glass, and he also doesnt make the sashes. So there is potential to work with him on this job. I plan to be home during the day all weekend, so interested parties can come and check out the specifics of the job then. Cheers, Looking forward to hearing from you. Ryan
